C-C Amatil to review two bids for Coca-Cola Korea

MELBOURNE/SEOUL, June 13 - Australian soft drinks firm Coca-Cola Amatil Ltd. said on Wednesday it will review final bids for its South Korean operations in late June, with two companies confirming they had submitted final bids.

China Aviation Oil Shares Surge on Speculation It May Announce Acquisition

(Bloomberg) -- Shares of China Aviation Oil
(Singapore) Corp. had their biggest gain in more than a month on
speculation the company will announce asset acquisitions.

The jet-fuel trader's shares rose as much as 18 cents, or
9.3 percent, to S$2.12 on the Singapore exchange. That was the
largest one-day increase since May 2. The stock was at S$2.09 at
12:28 p.m. Singapore time.

Asian Currencies Slump, Paced by Rupiah, Ringgit, Peso, After Greenspan

(Bloomberg) -- Asian currencies slid, paced by the
Indonesian rupiah, the Malaysian ringgit and the Philippine peso,
after former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan predicted a
slump in emerging-market debt.

The rupiah snapped a two-day rally, the ringgit fell to
near a 13-week low and the peso dropped to its weakest since May
18 as falling global equities and rising U.S. Treasury yields
prompted investors to reduce holdings of assets in the region.

Philippines' Export Growth Probably Accelerated in April on China Demand

(Bloomberg) -- Philippine export growth probably
accelerated for a second month in April as increased shipments
of computer chips, disk drives and minerals to China and Europe
made up for fewer sales to the U.S.

Overseas sales increased 8.3 percent, according to the
median estimate of eight economists in a Bloomberg News survey.
Exports increased 7.8 percent in March to the highest level
ever. The government will report April exports at 9 a.m. in
Manila tomorrow.

The benchmark FTSE 100 Index fell 47.10, or 0.7 percent, to

Two Coal Vessels May Enter Australia's Newcastle Port Today for Loading

(Bloomberg) -- Two coal ships may enter Newcastle
Port this afternoon for loading, using the last of the stockpiles
at the storm-affected Australian port, the world's biggest
export-harbor for the fuel.

Limited rail shipments of coal may resume to the New South
Wales port once a section of the coal railway south of Maitland
reopens, expected tomorrow, Graham Davidson, general manager of
Port Waratah Coal Services, which operates the two coal terminals
at Newcastle, said today. It's not possible to estimate when the
coal railway will be back to normal, he said.

Tanzania eyes higher spending to boost education

(Reuters) - Tanzania will boost spending on education in the 2007-08 budget this week, but analysts are concerned that government plans to avoid domestic borrowing may mean excessive reliance on donor financing.

Finance Minister Zakia Meghji presented a budget proposal to parliament in early June showing an increase in spending to 5.1 trillion shillings, up from 4.85 trillion shillings in 2006/07.

US STOCKS-Futures point lower on rates, tech worry

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, June 12 - U.S. stocks headed for a
lower open on Tuesday as rising bond yields stoked fears about
higher interest rates, while a disappointing outlook from Texas
Instruments Inc. soured prospects for the tech sector.




The yield on benchmark 10-year Treasury notes
rose to 5.19 percent. Analysts say a decisive break above 5.15
percent could spook investors into selling stocks. Bond yields
move inversely to prices.

U.K. Natural-Gas Prices Decline on Forecast of Lower Demand, Warm Weather

(Bloomberg) -- U.K. natural-gas prices declined
after the nation's grid operator said demand for the fuel would
shrink while temperatures remain warmer than normal.

Gas for delivery this week at the National Balancing Point,
the U.K. trading hub, fell 1.2 percent to 20.75 pence a therm at
11:25 a.m. in London, according to broker ICAP Plc. That equals
$4.09 per million British thermal units. A therm is 100,000 Btus.

SpectRx says will drop lawsuit against Abbott Labs

(Reuters) - As part of the settlement agreement, Abbott will forgive approximately $5.6 million in debt it claimed was in default, SpectRx said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.



The disputes arose from a research, development and license agreement, which was terminated in January 2003 with neither party admitting any liability or wrongdoing, the company said.

S.Africa Q2 business confidence dips slightly

(Reuters) - South Africa's business confidence index fell marginally to 80 index points in the second quarter of 2007 from 81 previously, a survey showed on Tuesday.

"The high level of the BCI in the second quarter would indicate that economic activity remained brisk, expanding at rate more or less the same as the first quarter," Rand Merchant Bank and the Bureau for Economic Research said in a statement.

Crude Oil Rebounds After IEA Increases Forecast for World Demand This Year

(Bloomberg) -- Crude oil pared its losses after the
International Energy Agency raised its forecast for fuel demand
this year.

Global demand is expected to rise 2 percent to 86.1 million
barrels a day in 2007 from a revised 84.5 million barrels a day in
2006, the Paris-based IEA said. That's 420,000 barrels more than
the IEA projected in May and comes after higher-than-expected
demand from nations including Indonesia and Singapore.

GLOBAL MARKETS-Interest rate worries haunt markets

(Reuters) - Equities were mixed and yields on government bonds were
generally higher. The dollar was flat against the euro and yen,
but the British pound strengthened after a hawkish King said
interest rates may need to rise again.




King's comments came as markets have already been shaken by
global propects that rising inflation may force tighter monetary
policy, putting a lid on liquidity and raising costs for
companies as bond yields rise.

EU court backs Anheuser-Busch on Budweiser trademark

(Reuters) - LUXEMBOURG, June 12 - Beer giant Anheuser-Busch won its latest battle against Czech brewer Budejovicky over the use of trademarks such as Budweiser on Tuesday with a ruling in the European Union's second-highest court.



The EU's Court of First Instance ruled in favour of the largest brewer in U.S. -- best known for its Budweiser beer -- in a case taken by the state-owned brewer of Budweiser Budvar over various trademarks linked to the Budweiser brand.

RPT-Hynix picks banks for $500 million bond-source

(Reuters) - South Korea's Hynix, which could raise as much as $1 billion,
has also hired Credit Suisse , Merrill Lynch and
Korea Development Bank to handle the deal, the source said.




Fitch Ratings on Tuesday assigned a "BB" rating to Hynix's
proposed $500 million senior unsecured note offering due 2017.

Uranium enricher USEC struggling to survive -NYT

(Reuters) - USEC's failure would leave Russia dominant in the market for
fuel processing, The Times added.
